Sekiro was mostly about fun clang clang bosses, the main missions have a good but a bit too difficult for a first one boss, then 3 bad bosses. Some actions seem to have a tiny delay too, for no good reason, it's not big enough to mess you up, but still bad enough to feel a little unresponsive. A lot of bugs with AI and collision (I managed to get into some weird state where I would phase into enemies when attacking, because I fell down as I was executing one of them). Some levels end up being a cakewalk, while the first one is unnecessarily hard when you're trying to get a grasp of the game's mechanics. Then also the camera is awful, jittering all over the place when next ot invisible walls, your character can phase through terrain in a lot of places, then get stuck on invisible spots too, thin pillars don't get transparency or zoom in, so sometimes they straight up cover your screen, then the game's constant micro stutters mess with timings even more, janky aggro ranges, lack of stealth, inconsistent difficulty in movesets even across regular enemies, from the start of the game. The bosses are imbalanced, their tells are nowhere as readable as Sekiro, they still rely heavily on clang clang, and even that doesn't work like in sekiro because it doesn't have a posture bar, so sometimes you just get staggered into several hit combos for absolutely no reason, it happens so frequently that I wanted to rip my hair out. It's literally all here, copied from the notebook, but it all works so much worse, because the devs bit more than they could chew. Mechanics - light attack combo for temporary damage that heals off after time, heavy attack to cut off the temp health bar accumulated, shuriken.I mean dart that stops unblockable attack, also the mikiri counter, spectral weapons that act pretty much like prosthetic tools, but with mp bar instead of charms, then the limited use sekiro dodge, and the main crutch of sekiro the f***n god forsaken CLANG CLANG CLANG CLANG CLANG deflects. It is a janky indie Sekiro more than literally anything else I could think of, and the jank is so prevalent and overpowering that despite pushing through the whole game I still feel sour. You might've been looking around for games that are DS inspired, with maybe a little bit of bloodborne here and there, I know I initially thought that what the game was going for, but DO NOT buy it if that is what you expect. I don't recommend it not because it's irredeemable, it's actually tragic with the potential it had.
